Landfall
Landfall
On what was once a premier 2,200 acres nestled off the coast of southeastern NC, this area has since been subdivided into one of the most remarkable and desirable neighborhoods in all of Wilmington, Landfall & The Drysdale Country Club. The area formerly known as Pembroke Jones Park, which was named after the wealthy rice mill tycoon who was born in Wilmington in 1858 and laid to rest in our very own Oakdale Cemetery in 1919. Mr. Jones was “The Socialite” of Wilmington in his day. You’ve heard the phrase: “Keeping up with the Joneses.” It is believed that this saying comes directly from local gossip about Mr. Pembroke Jones and his wife Sarah. The Joneses built a magnificent home in Airlie, today known as Airlie Gardens, where they would throw lavish holiday parties and gatherings. Landfall currently resides in the former hunting reserve land of Mr. Jones. Pembroke Jones Park was later renamed to Landfall in honor of the Italian explorer Giovanni da Verrazano who landed during his 1524 expedition. Landfall’s iconic logo commemorates the boat that Verrazano reached shore with many, many years ago.
Today, Landfall is a private gated community featuring over 2,000 homes plus rich undeveloped land lots/ sites where home prices can range from the high $300,000’s into multimillion-dollar estates & mansions. You will find exquisite landscapes, breathtaking views of the Intracoastal waterways, and natural marshes. The Country Club features two award winning championship golf courses; a 27 hole course designed by Jack Nicklaus & an 18 hole course by Pete Dye, 11 tennis courts, Olympic size swimming pool, as well as a very spacious club house boasting additional amenities and event spaces. A beautiful place to host weddings, birthday parties, and holiday events both social and professional.
